Great South has released a refreshed Implementation Plan to guide the next phase of the Motupōhue Bluff Tourism Master Plan, providing a clearer focus for development over the coming three to five years.
Since the Master Plan was launched, five major projects have been completed and several more are underway, including the Visitor Welcome Bay, Te Ara Taurapa cycle trail and the opening of Te Wāhi Tākaro o Motupōhue Adventure Park. These projects have strengthened Motupōhue Bluff’s visitor experience and laid the foundation for future growth.
To ensure the Master Plan remains aligned with current opportunities, Great South worked with Te Rūnaka o Awarua, South Port, Ocean Beach NZ, the Bluff Community Board, Invercargill City Council and local operators to identify the priority areas that will have the greatest impact.
The refreshed plan highlights three main focus areas: progressing Te Taurapa o Te Waka – the Motupōhue Bluff Hill Experience, strengthening operator capability and product packaging and developing a cohesive Motupōhue Bluff story through improved on-site and digital storytelling.
The plan also reinforces the importance of strong collaboration and better collection of Bluff-specific data to support future decision-making and funding opportunities.
The updated Implementation Plan provides a practical and coordinated roadmap for the next stage of development, ensuring Motupōhue Bluff continues to grow as a destination that reflects its cultural significance, natural environment and community.
