Great South is delighted to welcome Air New Zealand’s support for the Tussock Country Festival through its recently announced Regional Events Sponsorship programme.
Unveiled on 29 October, the programme highlights Air New Zealand’s commitment to regional New Zealand, with tailored support for events that celebrate local culture and drive tourism. Among the recipients is Southland’s own Tussock Country Festival, set to return to Gore from 22–31 May 2026.
A Boost for Regional Events
Air New Zealand’s three-year sponsorship includes flights, marketing, and promotional support — all designed to help regional events grow sustainably and attract more visitors. The initiative aligns with the airline’s mission to help Kiwis “discover the magic in their own backyard,” while delivering economic benefits to communities across Aotearoa.
Celebrating Country Music in Southland
Tussock Country Festival is New Zealand’s premier country music event, featuring 60+ events over ten days. From headline concerts and community gatherings to food, entertainment, and storytelling, the festival showcases the spirit of rural life and the warmth of Southland hospitality.
Great South’s Perspective
“Air New Zealand’s dedication to regional events like Tussock Country Festival is a real boost for Southland,” says Mark Frood, General Manager Tourism & Events at Great South. “This support not only shines a spotlight on our unique regional character but also underpins local economic growth, cultural pride, and visitor engagement.”
Looking Ahead
With Air New Zealand’s backing, the 2026 festival is poised to reach new heights — drawing more visitors, amplifying its national profile, and reinforcing Southland’s reputation as a vibrant destination for music, culture, and community.
